COLUMBIA, Md. (June 10, 2009) - HeMemics Biotechnologies, Inc. received an award from the Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO), in collaboration with the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC) and the Frederick County Office of Economic Development (OED) to examine the oxygen carrying capacity of the desiccated red blood cells. The company’s proprietary HeMeDriTM technology platform allows preservation of various mammalian cells in desiccated format, which, upon rehydration, regained function and can be used in a variety of applications.
